The vegetable garden volunteers at St. Anselm could use some helping hands to assist us with hauling and spreading mushroom compost on the vegetable beds and to haul and spread woodchips in the pathways of the lower, smaller garden.
The vegetable garden volunteers are seeking manpower assistance from the Knights of Columbus and will be very grateful if some of our members could join us for this job. The vegetable garden volunteers already have a sponsor who donated funds for the mushroom compost, and they get the woodchips for free from the town of Tinton Falls. So they are not seeking any monetary assistance.
Our target date for this work is the third Saturday in November, November 16 (with a rain date of Sunday, November 17).
They’ve chosen November 16 because it gives their fall crops enough time to grow and for them to harvest them to donate to Lunch Break.
In the past our members have helped us spread compost and woodchips, and because of our participation, they have been able to donate 2,000 pounds of fresh vegetables to needy people in our community this year.
If you would like to volunteer, add your name below so we can contact you if there are any changes in the schedule. Otherwise, come ready with a shovel and a wheelbarrow if you have one. It shouldn’t be more than a couple of hours (less with more volunteers).
